Helpful Tips: Returning Your Tuxedo

One might assume that returning their tuxedo is the easiest part of the wedding process, but we have seen time and time again that this can be made difficult in some situations. Here are some things you need to know to make your return go smoothly.

1. Anyone Can Return Your Tuxedo.

We understand that not everyone lives close to our store. We also realize that people are from out of state and that the groom will most likely be on his honeymoon and will not be thinking about returning his tuxedo. You are absolutely allowed to send everything with someone else! It does not have to be someone from the wedding party, so if you have to send it with a friend that is fine as well. There are late fees involved if you return late, so if you're really having trouble returning you need to give us a call so we know what is going on. Don't wait for the fees to pile up.

2. You Are Absolutely Allowed to Clean Your Tuxedo.

What do I mean by this? Well we know you are most likely going to get something on your tuxedo, whether it is a spot or a stain and that is okay. We don't expect you to clean off every spot on your tuxedo after your event. If your child is in the wedding, we expect that they are going to get a bit messy. Also, there is insurance on the tuxedo for that very reason. What I am referring to would be more major messes. If your tuxedo is to the point that we would have a hard time checking over it when you bring it back, you may want to consider cleaning it. If you are not sure of the safest way to do that call us.

3. Check Your Pockets.

Luckily we do not often get things of importance when we are checking over returns, but still take the time to check your pockets. We check them upon returns, but every now and then something gets missed. You especially want to check your pockets if you are having someone else bring your tuxedo back for you. We have found sun glasses, flasks, cigars, personal cuff links, etc. but thankfully most people do not forget money or their wallets in their tux. Even if you do not think you left anything in your pockets, still check them. It does not hurt to be cautious.

Helpful Tips: Slim Fit Pants

Hearing the words "slim fit pants," can be rather intimidating for our customers who may have never worn a tuxedo before or do not like the restriction. On the flip side, we have people who want everything slim fit and when they get the pants they either feel like they are too slim or not slim enough. So what is the deal? How are they supposed to fit?

1. They Are NOT Skinny Jeans.

Slim fit pants are definitely more fitted than a traditional pant, but that does not mean that they are skinny jeans. They are not supposed to be skin tight to your legs as if you are in a pair of tights. If that is the look your going for, the pants will not look like that. The only way we could get closer to that type of look is if we go down a size in the waist which will make it smaller everywhere else as well. Also, we cannot take in the legs of the pants to make it smaller. We are not professional tailors and it would ruin the pants for future use.

2. They Are SUPPOSED To Be A Little Shorter.

As shown above in the picture, the pants are not supposed to be as long as a pant of a looser fit would be. Traditional, tuxedo pants should fall down to the heel of your foot, but because it is so much smaller in the legs they will bunch if they come down too far. The picture shows exactly where they should fall and exactly how they should lay.

3. The Fit Might Not Be As Daunting As You Think.

Slim fit pants take out the room in the legs, it has nothing to do with the waist of the pants. Some guys prefer this look, but keep in mind that they are tighter in the hips and in the thighs, so if this is a concern of yours I would suggest trying on a pair before making a decision. It is all about your comfort; we can always go up a size in the pants in the slim fit. If you don't like it at all, we can always put you in a modern or classic fit pant which would give you more room.

It's all about your comfort! So if you have questions about the fit just remember we can always have you try on some first!

Helpful Tips: Woman Wear Tuxedos Too!

In the past couple years, we have actually had more and more ladies rock a tuxedo, not just men. It has not been for only wedding either! We have had ladies wear tuxedos for their own events, prom, homecoming, etc, and we love it! So if you are a lady who wants to rent a tuxedo from us, here are a couple things for you to know:

1. Yes, We Will Fit Women for Tuxedos.

I know it must seem obvious, but we get asked quite a lot if will fit women for tuxedos and we certainly will. Just keep in mind, our tuxedos are still made for men, we don't carry women's tuxedos specifically. What this means is that it is not made to hug your curves like normal women's clothing would. This brings me to my next point.

2. We Are NOT A Tailor.

Usually, a woman wants her tuxedo to fit like her clothing would. Since we do not carry actual women's tuxedos it is important that we have you try on everything to see if you are comfortable with the fit. We certainly would never have you leave with you tuxedo in a disarray, but we CANNOT take in the garments. We can only do minor alterations, meaning sleeve and pant lengths. We cannot take the pants or coat in to be more form fitting. If this is going to be a big concern of yours, perhaps consider buying a good pair of pants that fit you how you want (and that you can use again) and getting the rest from us. Overall, be vocal about how comfortable you are. We do not want you to be in uncomfortable with the fit of your tuxedo.

3. Bring Your Shoes!

For men, the pants length is supposed to go down to their heels and break once in the front. For women, we have the ability to wear them in a couple different ways depending on the type of shoes. If you are wearing heels, the pants can be shorter, if you are wearing flats, they can be a little longer. We won't know unless you bring the shoes with you so we can have the length exactly where you would like them, so don't forget to bring your shoes!

Just make sure you tell us what you like and do not like during your fitting so we can see if we can make the tuxedo more comfortable for you. We want you to look and feel your very best for the occasion!

Helpful Tips: Why the Final Fitting is 3 Days Before the Wedding

A lot of our customers tend to get really concerned when we tell them the final fitting for the guys is (usually) 3 days before their wedding day. So for example, if the wedding is on a Saturday, then the tuxedos will be available on Wednesday for the guys to try them on. Don't start panicking yet though, there is a reason we have the fitting set up this way and there is more than enough time to take care of any fitting issues.

1. Most of our Tuxedos Come from a Wholesaler.

So a lot of people who may have never rented before seem to be under the impression that we have all of our tuxedo styles in the store so that they are available to be tried on. That is simply not the case, we have displays in house and have to order in the actual sizes for orders. This is also because we simply do not have the room! If any of you have seen our store, it is relatively small and there is no way we can house hundreds of tuxedos at once. What this also means is that we have a specific time frame in which the tuxedos get delivered to us, which brings me to the next point.

2. We Can Only have the Tuxedos Out for a Certain Amount of Time.

The tuxedos need to be going out every week for different weddings. As soon as they arrive at our wholesaler's warehouse, they are cleaned, pressed, and sent out again for other people who need to rent them. If we had our weddings picking up several weeks before their wedding, that means that every garment and every size that they have cannot be rented out to other people in between that time. Another reason is a lot of our weddings have out of town people who could not pick up that early to begin with. The last reason is that we are charged for late garments just as our customers would be, so if we had their tuxedos out for several weeks and then someone chooses not to return their garments, we are getting charged for them and would have to charge the customer.

3. Earlier Pick Ups Could Throw Off Our Checks.

We go over everything for each wedding to make sure that their styles are correct, that everyone is measured, that the measurements look correct, and so on. We usually do these checks a couple weeks before the wedding. Having an earlier pick up could create MORE problems as it would shorten up the amount of time you have to make changes or get people measured. Since a wedding has so many different parts to it, you definitely want as much time as you can get.

4. We Have Enough Time to Do Alterations 3 Days Before.

We have been doing pick ups this way for years, so trust me when I say we have enough time to get replacements garments in and do alterations if necessary. Alterations take 10 minutes and we try to check over measurements so you do not have to come in to pick up replacement items. If you do have to do this though, you will have the replacements before the wedding. If we notice that someone has not been in for the fitting and it is getting close to the wedding, we will call them ASAP. If they are unable to come in until the day of or day before, we will look over their measurements and see if we need to order in extras for them so we can switch out garments on the spot when they come in.

We have the fittings the way that we do for a reason and even though it seems too close for comfort, we have enough time to get the guys looking good for the big day. In certain cases we will adjust the pick up date (if you are going out of town, etc.) so that you have a little more time but it does not always happen. If you ever have questions or concerns about the fitting, let us know! We have dealt with about every situation you could think of: guys out of country, the wedding is out of town, everyone is out of town, destination weddings, and so on. We want to make sure that everyone looks good and is comfortable for your wedding day!

Free Consultations

The months are going by quickly and before you know it, it will be time for your wedding. We're sure that you have lots of questions of what you need to do for your wedding. We are aware some of our customers do not know what styles to do. That is not a problem. We have been offering free consultations.

1. You are not required to have an appointment to come in.

We would only prefer if you made an appointment if you're bringing the whole wedding party with you. We want to be properly staffed to help everyone. Other than that you do not have to make one unless you want to. You can come in at anytime that works with you. We would suggest that both the bride and groom come so you both can agree on styles.

2.  If you are unaware of what styles you want that is no problem!

We will go over the different fits of the tuxedos, different styles, and different color options. We do want you to bring a swatch of the bridesmaid dresses so we can perfectly match the color! If you do not have it that day you can bring it at a later date. If you still aren't sure after we go over everything, we do write what you were interested in for when you come back at a later date.

3. We will go over your deadlines.

We want you to be aware of when people need to be measured and when styles need to be picked out and finalized. We need time to order the tuxedos and the accessories along with it.  We need to get things ordered ahead of time to get the tuxedo rented in your name. The deadlines will vary depending on when you come in. If you want to have more time to make decisions, come in about 4 months before your wedding.

At Gerard Tuxedo we want you to be sure of what styles you picked out and that you're happy! We want the guys to look great at your wedding.

Helpful Tips: Out of Town Weddings

A lot of the weddings we have been working with lately are actually getting married out of town. We only have one location, so a lot of our weddings have questions about how their fitting will work. Usually what happens is the bride and groom live near us and the wedding is in the area where the rest of the wedding party lives, or an area closer to them. So what do you happens if no one is coming in to try on their garments? Well it's simple!

1. Let Us Know The Wedding Is Not in Town.

When we are setting up your pick up date, this is when we would need to know if the wedding is out of town or not. This will affect when we need to get the tuxedos into our store, and we cannot know to look over the measurements more closely if we are not aware that people are not trying on their garments. Even if some people can come in to pick up their own garments, we need to make sure that those people have time to get replacements if needed. If you were leaving several days before your wedding, we would want to know this so we can push your pick up date back so you have enough time to get replacements.

2. Everyone Needs to Get Measured.

This should be obvious, but everyone needs to get measured. They can go on tuxedofit.com to find somewhere in their area where they can be measured. We do not expect them to come all the way to our store to get measured if they live no where near us. They just need to get the proper measurements, which will be on the website for them, and they need to be measured at least 2 months before the wedding which is our normal deadline for measurements. After that, if we have questions we can call them directly and we can also take payment over the phone.

2. We Check Over the Measurements.

Not every garment fits the same, and some times people do get bad measurements that do not make a whole lot of sense. This is why we take time to check over them. If we notice they are in between sizes or that they might be uncomfortable in a size, we will order in extra garments for you to take. This way, they will not need to come all the way to us for a different size.

We want your wedding day to be perfect and we everyone to be comfortable and look good. So we will take the time to make sure everyone looks good, just make sure you let us know ahead of time so that we can get everything all set for your wedding day.

Helpful Tips: Returning Tuxedos

A lot of our customers have questions when it comes to returning their garments. Nobody wants to accumulate late fees, and we understand that sometimes it can be a hassle trying to return with so many people to have to account for. So here are some tips on what to do to make sure everything is returned.

1. Returns Are Always The Next Business Day.

If you forget when your return date is, when we schedule the return date with you, it is almost always the next business day. So if your event is on a Saturday, keep in mind that we are closed on Sundays, so the return date would be Monday. We do give you copies of your return date when you pick up your tuxedo, so make sure you keep them with you in case you forget. The copies we give you are strictly for your reference, and if you do forget the date do not hesitate to give us a call right away.

2. Anyone Can Return It For You.

If you are having issues returning your garments, anyone can return it for you. They do not need your paperwork, they just simply need to tell us your name. If you are going out of town and won't be here to return your garments, you can send it with someone from the wedding party. Just take the time to make sure you check your pockets to make sure you do not leave anything important in your tuxedo. If you need to send it with someone who was not in the wedding party, that is completely fine as well. We just want your tuxedo returned on the day that it should be.

3. We Can Change The Return Date.

This would be something we would do when you are picking out your garments for the first time, but if you are completely unable to return your garments on that following business day, let us know. For example, on Mondays we are only open from 11am-6pm. If you do not get out of work until 7pm or 8pm, Monday may be a bad day for you to return. In this case, we could move your return date to Tuesday when we are open from 11am-8pm. Again this would be something we could do the first time you come in to pick out your outfit.

Now, what happens if you completely misplace a garment and have no idea where to find it? Well, unfortunately we would have to charge you the replacement cost of the item because we get charged for missing items as well. We get our garments from a wholesaler, and they do charge us for late or missing merchandise. BUT, if you find your missing garments at any point in time, we will refund you the replacement cost of the item after you return it. Even if it is months later, we will still refund you as long as we get the items back undamaged.

4. You Can Mail Items Back.

If you cannot bring the items back, you can most certainly mail them back! We understand that sometimes your trip out to the store is a long one, so if you need to mail something to us that is not problem. Just call us so that we are aware that you are mailing items back so that we know to wait for it and so you do not accumulate late fees.

Helpful Tips: Accurate Measurements

A lot of our customers have never been measured for a tuxedo before, and sometimes they think that these measurements will be completely exact. Now are measurements actually exact? No, they are not exact and here are several reasons why and what you need to look out for when you are being measured.
1. Everything Runs Different.

Every garment fits differently, you could be a 40R in one coat and then might be completely uncomfortable in a slim fit coat of the same size, for example. Keep this in mind; when we measure people at our store, we have them try on fitting coats. These fitting coats are older and not fitted in any way, so the coat that you would be getting would be different. If we have the exact coat in the size that you need we will have you try it on so you won't have to worry about if you will be comfortable. We try to have you try on garments if your sizes look questionable after we measure you or if you are in between sizes. We want you to be as comfortable as you can be in your tuxedo and we truly want you to enjoy your event.

2. Getting Measured Out of Town.

A lot of our customers get measured out of town because they do not live close enough to get measured here. That is completely fine, but if you feel like they are not measuring you correctly, please let us know. We have had this happen many times where a customer gets measured somewhere else and does not bring it to their attention or ours that perhaps their measurements are off, and they usually are. These are things that we look over but we cannot always catch everything without actually seeing you in person. Make sure to include your height and weight when you send over your measurements because this is how we check over your measurements. Also, if you can try something on, please do! It will make picking up your tuxedo a lot easier when you come here to try everything on. We understand your time is precious and we want to make sure you have what you need for the wedding.

3. Different Body Types

Everyone has a different body type and everyone has a different comfort level and just because your measurements seem like everything may fit, that does not mean it will. Again, when customers are getting measured we want them to try garments on. This way, you know exactly what to expect and you won't feel uncomfortable. Which brings me to the next point:

4. The Tuxedo Will NOT Fit Like the Your Normal Clothes.

Tuxedos are restrictive; they are not made to stretch and can feel weird if you do not wear them often. Even if you do not know how the tuxedo should be fitting, do not leave the store without voicing your concerns! We will give you options based on what will make you comfortable without compromising the look of the tuxedo. But we cannot know if you are not liking it if you do not tell us first.

The entire Gerard Tuxedo Staff wants our customers to look good and feel even better. We want to make your fitting as easy for you as possible. When you get measured, we want you to leave feeling confident that you'll be comfortable in your tuxedo. If you do not get measured here, keep us informed. Let us know if you think your measurements are off and just not right. Communication is key and we want all our customers to happy when they come into our store.

Fittings: How They Work

The majority of our customers have never rented a tuxedo before and are unsure of how the fittings work. We get questions all the time, so here is an overview of how they will work.

1. The First Fitting.

The first time that you get measured will be your first fitting. We take basic measurements from you and will have you try on garments if you are in between sizes to make sure that your are comfortable. This process is relatively short and all we need after that would be a $50.00 down payment to get your garments ordered. After this, we will not see you until your second fitting.

2. The Second Fitting.

The second fitting will be the most important. This is when you actually come into the store several days prior to the wedding to insure that your actually garments fit. We are often asked why we do this if we have already taken your measurements and the answer is very simple. Measurements are not exact and every tuxedo fits differently. Some sizes will work for certain coats, and others would need to be changed for other coats. For example, if you are in a classic fit coat, the coat itself is not fitted and it will not be tight on you anywhere, but if you needed a slim fit coat and you used the same size it might be too snug on you for your comfort. This is why we stress the importance of trying on your exact garments. Some coats run small, some run big, some vest run short and so on. Even the length on the pants can be off if you have your pants on your waist where you would normally wear them at your first fitting to be measured, and then you get your tuxedo pants and feel like you need to wear them higher. These things happen and we want to take care of them when they do.

3. The Third Fitting.

If you come in at your second fitting and you need a replacement garment, we order those in for you and this is considered your third fitting. Not everyone needs a third fitting, so if everything is good to go at the second fitting you take your garments with you then and there. This is again why we stress that you try on your actually garments as soon as possible because we would hate it if you did not try on your garments until the day of the wedding and then needed replacements. We need a little time to get these things in and it will be less stressful for you in the long run if you try everything on as soon as possibe. We understand that some of our customers are out of town and cannot come in until often the day before or even day of the wedding. This situation is quite common and we will double check over measurements to ensure that they get proper fitting garments. We still need them to try it on when they can even in this situation.

We want our customers to be comfortable and we want everything to look good. This is why we do these things the way that we do because we understand that being a part of a wedding can be a lot of work. We want you to have fun on the wedding day and to be comfortable and confident.

Wedding Season

Now that Prom is winding down, Wedding Season is in full swing and it's time to get all your ducks in a row. Keep in mind that we have to order in all the garments for your wedding to get them reserved ahead of time, so you want the guys to be measured as soon as possible. Here are several things to keep in mind when planning for your special day.

1. If we are ordering your vests and ties from certain companies, it's going to take longer to arrive.

We have a plethora of colors for you to choose from and we want you to find the exact color that matches your bridesmaid's dresses. One company that we use in particular has a large number of colors but it does take several weeks for these items to come in. So just take the time to check with us and make sure everyone is measured and has their down payment paid so that we can have everything ordered in time. We will also take the time to go through and make sure that everyone is measured in time and will notify you if some people in your wedding party are cutting it close.

2. Stay Informed.

There has been many times where I have contacted the bride or groom of a wedding party to let them know that someone was not measured, someone had not put their down payment down, or someone had neglected to pick out a style that was left optional and the bride and groom were not even aware. So it is very important that you check in with us periodically; and we will do the same for you. There's nothing wrong with double checking to make sure that everything is in order. It's better to know what is going on to put your mind at ease.

3. Don't Underestimate How Much Time You Have.

There are plenty of times where weddings have booked with plenty of time to spare to get everyone measured and everything ordered in time and then months go by and then we are running out of time. Do not underestimate the amount of time you have left to get things done. Keep in mind that if your wedding is after the Fall and Winter months that there will be a number of holidays and holiday hours that will eat up your time. Get what you need done early and then you will have plenty of time to deal with the other aspects of the wedding without having to worry about this particular one.

Helpful Tips: Getting your Tuxedo Reserved

One of the questions that we often get asked is when should everyone get the tuxedos reserved for their wedding. A lot of times we are asked this because people may think that depending on the date of the wedding, it may be too early to start the rental process. In all honesty, it is a lot easier to get everything done ahead of time even if you believe it is too soon and here is why:

1. You're Pricing Will Remain the Same

We run special promotions every month and depending on the time of year, they can be higher or lower. When you register your wedding, you guarentee that the pricing will remain the same for your wedding even if, for example, you are not getting married until a year later. We have even had brides and grooms who have registered their wedding and it is still 2 years away. Again, your pricing will be the exact same when the guys come in and are ready to be measured.

2. The Guys Will Have Their Sizes Reserved

We get our tuxedos from a wholesaler, and the wholesaler has a set amount of garments in each style until it gets to the point when they have to buy more sizes or new styles. If your wedding is in a busy time of year such as in May or June, you would want them measured before hand so that their sizes are reserved. This means that they will get the exact sizes they were measured for in the styles they need guarenteed. It also means that if the wholesaler ran out of a size in something, they are already guarenteed that size, whereas someone who got measured later may have to be bumped up or down in the style they need because of size availability. The only ones this would not apply to would be ringbearers, because they are not supposed to be measured until a month before because they are still growing. We want the measurements at least 2 months before and not a day later, but there is no criteria for getting measured early. That way you won't have to worry about the deadlines later on.

3. The Earlier You Come the More Choices You Get

If you are looking for something very specific or if you want something that would have to be specially ordered, it is imperative that you get everyone measured by the deadline. If you come in last minute, we would not be able to order special order items for you if you wanted them because they come from out of state usually. Depending on the time of year, some places will run out of stock. For example, we have had multiple people come in who want to purchase a navy blue tuxedo, but they only make them about twice a year, and after that they do not make them until much later in the year. So if you needed this last minute there would be no where we could get it from because it is so popular and the navy tuxedo is needed for rentals. It is more likely that you will get exactly what you want if you come in early.

4. If You Get it Done Early, You Won't Need to Worry About it Later.

There is no penalty for coming in and getting the process started for your event. If you get everything done early, you will not even have to worry about deadlines, shipping times, you will have more options available to you, etc. If you are able to do this ahead of time, you should.

Helpful Tips: Do I Have to Make a Down Payment When I Get Measured?

There are always 2 things that we require from you to get your tuxedo ordered: your measurements and your down payment and it is imperative that we have both. It is more obvious that if we only have a down payment and no measurements that we cannot get your tuxedo ordered because we do not know what sizes we need. The same is true if we do not have your down payment and there is a good reason why.

We get our tuxedos through a wholesaler and the wholesaler does charge us a fee if someone cancels their tuxedo. We need the down payment just in case that were to happen, but if you paid for the cost of the entire tuxedo you would get the difference back. We do not charge anything extra than the down payment, which is usually $50.00 but the down payment may be different depending on what event it is for. There would be a cancellation fee only if you made your down payment, got measured, we ordered the tuxedo and then for whatever reason you cancelled.

We are often asked if the down payment has to be made right after someone is measured and if they can call back or come in on a different day to make it. This is usually fine, but there is usually a deadline of when we need to get the tuxedos ordered so that they will be here in time for the wedding. If you plan on calling back or coming in on a different day, make sure that you remember to do this. We have had plenty of people who have said they would make a down payment a couple days to a week later and then we do not hear from them for months. I have gone through files to update the Bride and Groom on who still needs to be measured and have found tickets from customers who said they were going to make a down payment and didn't; meaning the tuxedo had never been ordered during those weeks of waiting for them and they have very little time until the deadline. We want to get the tuxedos ordered ahead of time so that we can get all the tuxedos reserved in time for your event.

Helpful Tips: When to Rent

A lot of our customers are often unsure of when the right time is to start planning on renting their garments for their wedding or event. A lot of people may have never rented before and thus are not familiar with the process. If you are not sure when you need to start planning, then hang tight and we will go over everything you need to know.

Firstly, we have taken care of a good number of last minute orders and we are used to taking care of them if need be. So if you think you may not have time because you waited until the very last second still give us a call. Otherwise, just remember there is no penalty for starting the rental process early.

If you are planning your wedding, we want the styles for your wedding finalized at least 3 months before your wedding date. This means we want no changes and that you and your fiancée are 100 percent in agreeance with the tuxedo and colors you both decided on. We then would want everyone’s measurements at least 2 months before the wedding regardless if they get measured in our store or not. We do this because we need to get the tuxedos reserved ahead of time for your special day. So you may want to give yourself a little extra time and come in to look at styles around 5 months before your wedding date. This way, you have time to change your mind about styles if necessary and you can get everyone measured so that you won't have to worry about it later. Of course you can come in even sooner than that if you would like; that just means everything will be taken care of sooner.

If you are planning for an event, then your time line is a little different. We have had people who need tuxedos come in the same week of their event to pick something out and get measured. Now, if you are looking for something very specific you may want to give yourself two weeks at the minimum just to make sure that we can get you exactly what you are looking for. Even just one week ahead of time could also suffice. Just try to leave enough time to have the garments ordered and then time to get replacements if necessary. We have sizes in house so again it can depend on what you are looking for.

We want to make sure you look good for your event or wedding so we will do everything we can to get you in a good looking tuxedo. We will always try to accommodate our customers to the best of our abilities, but if you give yourself time to rent your garments you make it easy on us and on yourselves.

Helpful Tips: How to Accessorize

POCKET SQUARES:
Groom in light gray tuxedo with burgundy bow tie and matching pocket square {Joleen Willis Photography}:
You should always wear a pocket square with your tuxedo. Without a pocket sqaure the tuxedo looks unfinished. You can chose to either match your tie like the above picture or chose to accent your colors like the pictures below.

lace packet quare:

TIE PINS & TIE BARS:

Branch Tie Bar- 3D Printed Stainless Steel Men's Tie Clip:
Adding a tin pin, not only holds your tie in place, but adds a sense of style. But remember it should always be placed in between the 3rd and 4th buttons of your shirt! Having it too high or too low throws the whole look off.

LAPEL PINS:
Men Flower Shape Lapel Handmade Wedding Suit Tuxedo Boutonniere Stick Brooch Pin:
Boutineers are saved for special occasions, but a lapel pin is a great alternative you can wear at any time.

SOCKS:

Now, normally the rule with socks is too keep them darker than your pants. But this colorful trend has been popping up everywhere and we love it! Match the socks to your vest and tie colors to pull the whole look together!

Helpful Tips: Prepping For Prom

The months are going by quickly and before you know it, it will be prom time. A lot of the guys that we see who are going to prom don't really know what they want to wear and aren't sure when they should come in to look at styles, but that's where we come in. Here is a guide for any of you who are planning on going to prom or for those of you who know someone who is attending.

1. You don't have to wait last minute to pick out your tuxedo.

Honestly there is no such thing as too early. The prom months are also the height of wedding season for us, so if you choose styles early you end up beating the rush. That does not mean that you will be unable to change styles later. A lot of the guys we work with during prom are going with a date and they usually want to match their vest and tie to her dress color. If she does not have her dress yet, you can pick out your tuxedo and choose a vest and tie color at a later time. This way you have already been measured and have the majority of your styles so that we can just order your garments right away and you can just pick your colors and be done with it. This brings me to my next point.

2. Bring a swatch.

If your intention is to match the colors of her dress as closely as possible, then bring a piece of the dress. It does not have to be a swatch exactly; it could be just a strap of the dress or even a tiny piece of fabric. We have a lot of the guys during prom who will have a picture of the dress on their phone when they come into the store but you have to be aware that the color will look different on camera than in person. Don't get me wrong, this approach can also work but if you want the colors to be exact we will need to see the color of the fabric. Bring your date with you to pick out the color if need be, that way you can both find a good color match that you agree on.

3. Yes, we can do last minute orders.

Every year we have guys come in just days before their proms. Sometimes they get invited last minute or decide later on that they want to attend and that is completely fine. We do this every year thus far and we will make sure you get the look you want for prom no matter when you come in. Of course if you don't have to come in last minute we would still like for you to come early.

4. Pick what you like.

When the guys from prom come into our store, they are not always sure of what they want. That's ok because we go over the styles and fits of the tuxedos with you when you come in. We want you to be happy with how you look when you go to prom. So if you aren't sure of what look you are going for just be aware that we go over everything with you when you come in.

5. We have a fitting for a reason.

Before you leave the store with your tuxedo we are going to have you try everything on. This is because we want to make sure everything fits correctly and we need time to get replacements if necessary. When you get measured for your tuxedo at your first fitting we may even have you try garments on. This way we know for a fact that your tuxedo will fit you before the actual tuxedo is in the store. It makes your second fitting a lot quicker and smoother so you can be in and out of the store knowing everything fits you well.

6. Have fun.

It's your prom. Relax, have fun, if you are not comepletely sure about what you need to do to pick out your tuxedo we will walk you through it.

Tuxedo Trends

We've seen many trends come and go over the years, and we like to know what's popular and what people are looking for in a tuxedo or suit for their wedding. Here are a couple different trends that we have been seeing from last year into now:

1. Navy Tuxedos

We've seen a lot of different color tuxedos rising in popularity but navy is the "it" color of 2016. Navy breaks away from the standard traditional black tuxedo but gives you more option than just doing a grey tuxedo or suit. It still looks very sleek and nice on every groom or groomsman without being too much.

2. Suits

We have been getting a lot of questions about suits as of late. A suit is technically "less formal" than a tuxedo but that doesn't mean it won't look just as good. Some of our customers have been looking for a more "casual" look for their wedding party and decide to rent a suit over a tuxedo. The suits come in varying colors but we are typically asked the most about grey and tan suits.

3. Suspenders

Continuing on with the more "casual" look, our next big trend is suspenders. We have seen varying ways of weddings channeling this trend; some weddings will not do coats, some weddings will order colored suspenders to macth the bridesmaids' dresses, some weddings may pair them with long ties instead of bow ties, etc. We see a lot more of this with summer weddings who don't want their groomsman to get too hot during the  ceremony. Having suspenders is a good way of dressing up the oufit if you have decided against doing tuxedo or suit coats for the groomsmen.

4.Colored Tuxedos with a Black Lapel

This is a trend something that is just starting off. I have had a couple different people ask me if we have a colored tuxedo with a black lapel. I think this will be something that someone would like if they really want to stand out. It still looks classy and pushes the envelope even further than just doing a standard black tux. We will be able to rent out a couple of colored tuxedos for Spring and we will see how everyone likes it but as of now we have had people asking about it.

If you are not sure what you want to do for your own wedding party, maybe one of these trends can give you an idea. Tell us which one is your favorite!
